Poet and free jazz piano player Fish Henderson joined us on stage for our show in Primm last night. We did some patriotic stuff before cutting into a medley of Weather Report songs and bird calls. It was amazing. Fish has been an influence for some time now. Throwing down sweet licks with the father of free jazz spoken word wife jokes was a dream come true. I mean, come on, this is the guy who Michael McClure (at a little peyote drenched toga happening in Moro Bay) once called his generation's free jazz comic poet laureate. He invented, among other things: I take my wife everywhere, but she keeps finding her way back. and Two times a week, we go to a nice restaurant, a little wine, good food and companionship. She goes Tuesdays. I go Fridays. I mean really-- I could make myself die right now and be happy. Oh well, next stop... Masonic Lodge in Cripple Creek, Colorado (free for women and the elderly)!
Again, don't forget: One night only... Silver Lake Lounge. January 21. 9:00. Topless men get in free. So does everyone else.
And: Hotel Cafe. February 6th. 10.00. Special guests to rise from the dead!
